The fourth season of Star Cup started off with an opening ceremony at the K. L.
Saini Ground, Mansarovar. It was a corporate tournament wherein most of the teams
were owned by local business houses and rest had corporate participation. Star
Cricket Youth Club’s franchise Star Cup is known for quality cricket and recreating
an overall professional environment for the development of the players. This
tournament was based on a league cum knock-out format. Ten teams participated
and were further divided into two pools consisting five teams each. The entire
tournament lasted for 12 days with two matches each day. The winning team got
many accolades, trophies, a whopping sum of INR 51,000, and the greatest reward
which is the game itself. We are pleased to say that our tournament was especially
praised for exceptional management and out of the box thinking.
We also invited and honoured kids from Bhavani Child Development Center, a not-
for-profit charitable trust which nurtures and caters to the academic and vocational
skills of children with learning disability. We believe that everyone should have a fair
chance at the game of cricket. Everyone is equal at the field and can learn and
develop a healthy approach while playing cricket. We honoured and initiated the
children into the game by gifting them small mementos and organizing a small
parade. The overall experience was quite memorable.
